Reaching the Younger Generation

Ran across a challenging blog this week from Tony Morgan, a staff pastor with a progressive church in Anderson, SC. He deals with the challenge of reaching the younger generation in an article entitled "Are You Comfortable With Being Uncomfortable?" Here is one short section of the entry:
If the church is going to continue to reach the next generations:
- I have to be willing to give leadership to people younger than me…and let them make mistakes.
- I have to be willing to let younger folks lead me in worship…even when it’s not my favorite style of music.
- I need to embrace new methods of ministry…even though it makes me uncomfortable.
- I need to pray and encourage and finance the next generation church…and stop trying to make church a place that I like to attend.
It’s not about me. It’s about the people who desperately need to know the hope, love and forgiveness found only in Jesus Christ.
You can read the whole article here
He also references another blog entry on why young people are leaving the church in droves.

Maybe I'll learn something from my son Joel about blogging . . . he can be quite prolific at times. If you're curious, you can check his recent day by day, blow by blow account of recording a CD . . . complete with pictorial illustrations :). Click the "read more" link below. Just a fun, interesting account of a Grace musician's journey . . .

Not Too Late for Christmas Music

Actually, the 12 days of Christmas continue from Dec. 25 through Jan. 6 (Epiphany). Got an email from my son Joel about some Christmas music he recorded. Can't exactly put a news article on the church home page, but a blog seems an appropriate place to 'spread the word.'
